our clay mask blends are built on a foundation of detoxifying clay, mineralizing dead sea salt and cleansing castor oil.

clay blend of montrimollinite clay has unique pulling and binding properties that can reach far deeper than soap for a deeply detoxifying cleanse. These clay blends bind to metals, toxins and other impurities on and below the surface of the skin.

This is our most stimulating mask and the only one with a rough exfoliating potential. We blend multiple grind sizes of our Certified Organic and Fair-Trade Coffee. The extra fine grounds are easily extracted for a rich dose of stimulating caffeine and protective antioxidants. The larger grounds create opportunity for a nice rough exfoliation. Massage lightly or add a little pressure for a rougher experience. Our Certified Organic and Fair-Trade Cacao powder is blended raw to retain the highest antioxidant potential. the turmeric mask

harnesses the inflammatory mitigating greatness of certified organic turmeric powder. most people are familiar with the vast health benefits of consuming turmeric, but you may not have considered the benefits of topical application for the skin. nobody is immune to the destructive consequences of daily inflammation from diet, environment, contact allergens, stress, etc. while we always recommend considering diet and lifestyle as a primary defense against inflammation, this blend of awesomeness can be a very valuable supplement to your inflammation fighting skin care routine.

Clay Mask Usage Instructions

ATTENTION: These are strong products with some intense detoxifying properties. Some tingling or “pins and needles” is normal. This is a combination of Dead Sea Salt, Essential Oils and Pulling clays working some magic on your skin. If uncomfortable burning occurs, rinse off immediately. You can try again with less water. The less water you use, the less activated the ingredients become and the less intense the product becomes.

Wash face with warm water (NOT HOT WATER). Don’t dry face off.
Scoop some clay and put in the palm of your hand. Drip a little water on the clay to activate. You will notice a slight color change in the clay. Don’t add too much water as to make the clay “runny and thin”. You want to maintain a muddy consistency.
Apply mask to face and neck evenly. After you get the first layer on, feel free to lay it on thick. You may notice some “pins and needles” when you first put the mask on. This is normal. If you feel like it’s too intense, skip to step 5 immediately.
Leave mask on for 5-15 minutes as desired.
Rinse with warm water (NOT HOT WATER). Use a clean washcloth or just
Wash the remainder of mask off with some soapy water. The charcoal and the Turmeric mask may require more soap to remove all the mask.
Pat dry
ALWAYS follow up with Whole Body Apothecary Face Serum or Face Cream. This is a very important step. If you don’t have either of these products, you can use a little olive oil from the pantry. Please do not use a lotion.

A little redness is normal after removing the clay. These masks pull blood to the surface of the skin. This is a very renewing and nourishing process, so don’t panic, the redness will go away in a few minutes. You may also notice a slight throbbing in your skin also. This is also from the increased blood flow and detox. Embrace it all, you just experienced some awesomeness.

Feel free to use clay masks up to 3x a week. If you’re using these masks 3x weekly, please consider using our face serum on a daily basis to keep the skin nourished and resilient.

A well balanced, mild soap makes a great cleanser, but soap (surfactants) only have "lifting" properties and can leave some impurities behind. When Montmorillonite Clay is hydrated, it induces an electric charge and swells. This action gives our clay masks "pulling" properties that can reach deeper than soap. Impurities are pulled to the surface of the skin and adsorbed to the activated clay. This pulling actions also draws blood flow to the surface of the skin which brings oxygen and nutrients to the epidermal layer. This stimulation can further promote cell detoxification and new cell generation.
